Q: In a paragraph describe the picture and how the picture and different names for the Boston Massacre would be viewed throughout the colonies if you didn't see the scene take place first hand. Remember that all but 2 of the soldiers would be found not guilty.
A: Most of the colonists would be appalled after looking at this picture, especially the ones who were not at the scene. What they saw when looking at the picture, was not an angry mob being shot by a group of soldiers trying to defend themselves. Instead, they saw a group of murderers shooting into an innocent crowd. To create propaganda, the picture had been exaggerated to the point that most of it wasn't true. Even the name of the incident exaggerated things. The names "Boston Massacre," "Kingstreet Massacre," and "Bloody Massacre," immedietly created a horrifying image. Colonists were angry and scared. Other colonies wondered if the soldiers would do that to them too. Their relationship with the British was greatly damaged. Even though many did not comprehend the situation, they were all riled up with hatred. That's why many were shocked when only two of the soldiers were found guilty. Many colonists weren't there to witness the shooting, they didn't exactly understand what was going on.
Very good post. Thank you.
