Declaring Independence

REPLY to Declaration of Independence (persuasive essay):

Independence is the only option left for us to take. We, the American colonists, have been unfairly taxed, had our houses searched, and have been shot at. It is time we take action!

Parliament has taxed us on sugar, paper, and tea. We have no representatives, no voice, in Parliament. We cannot speak out. We can't speak our minds and tell them that this is wrong. Taxation without representation is tyranny! Parliament makes all the decisions for us. How do they know what is best for the colonies if they are all the way across the ocean?
We have had our houses searched. Why? Because we were accused of smuggling goods. What proof do they have? What conformation do they have to search our house? Invade our space? They call it the writs of assistance. That is unfair. We, as human beings, have the right to privacy.
The British have shot at us. The British soldiers, were sent here meant to protect us. They were supposedly on our side. Instead they shot into a innocent crowd of people. Did they stop there? No they didn't. Our King, hired Hessians to fight against us. Brutal mercenaries to fight against his own people. The King is through with talking, and so are we.

The time is now, for Independence. Let us write our own laws and govern ourselves. Let us be united together and fight for freedom.
